the importance of Nourishing after gastric band surgery
Nourishing Yourself After a Gastric Band
Having a gastric band can be a really positive step towards improving your health and wellbeing, and in my experience working in the area of weight management, it’s just as important to look at what you’re eating as well as how much you’re eating.
With a smaller amount of food going into your body, every mouthful matters. It’s important to make those foods as nourishing and nutrient-dense as possible, so that you’re giving your body the protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre and other nutrients it needs to function at its best.
This is where I can help.
As a Registered Nutritional Therapist and Health Coach with over 16 years’ experience, I work with people who have gastric bands to gently support them in developing healthier, more nourishing eating habits that fit around their band and, importantly, fit around their lifestyle.
I know that changing the way we eat isn't always easy. There may be habits that have developed over many years, emotional connections with food, uncertainty about what you can eat comfortably, or simply confusion about what your body actually needs.
My approach is never about judgement or telling you that you’re “doing it wrong”. Instead, I take the time to understand you, your relationship with food and your individual nutritional needs, and then work with you to make small, realistic changes that can become lasting habits.
A gastric band can help you with portion size. My role is to help you make those smaller portions as nourishing as they can be, so you’re not just eating less, but truly nourishing your body.
If you feel you’d benefit from some gentle, personalised nutrition support alongside your gastric band journey, I’d love to help. Please feel free to contact me on 07426 889469 or at hello@foodandforestwellbeing.co.uk.
